The first five groups in the 2023 edition of the Leagues Cup will come to an end on Saturday, with all fixtures having something to play for in the defining games of their lots.
Group South 2 is still wide open, and the rest of the groups having their final matches being played on Saturday still have at least one slot to hand out for the teams involved.
Speaking of Liga MX clubs, at least two of them are facing elimination in the most embarrassing way, as they would leave the tournament with no points won in two games. Meanwhile, there are two MLS clubs that are facing the same scenario, which would be even more insulting to Austin FC, who were paired up against two of the worst teams in recent Liga MX history (Mazatlán and Juárez).

Cruz Azul vs Atlanta United
The first match of the day will be a KO match in itself, as the winner will immediately join Inter Miami as the other team qualified in group South 3. Both these teams lost to Messi and Co., leaving them with the only option to win this game if they want to reach the next stage. Cruz Azul are currently in shambles because of their poor form in this tournament and in Liga MX, where they have lost all their games and with their coach's future already under questioning. On the other hand, Atlanta will also try to turn their fate around after three straight losses (two of them coming in their last MLS matches), and a victory here would really come in handy for Gonzalo Pineda's men.

Necaxa vs Charlotte
It will be the final game of group South 4. The team from the MLS hold the upper hand over Necaxa, as they defeated group leaders FC Dallas in their first match of the competition. Meanwhile, Los Rayos need a win in 90 minutes here to make the next round, as a draw and a win in penalties would not be enough to leapfrog Charlotte. Necaxa's first experience against an MLS club ended in a loss, and Charlotte is set to face a Liga MX club for the first time ever. Which one of these teams come out on top?

Santos Laguna vs Orlando City
The last match of group South 2 could bring a hell of a problem in terms of who makes the next round, as all three teams could end this stage with three points and all tiebreakers could be used to determine who makes the next round. As things stand, Houston Dynamo lead the pack with three points and no wins, but a victory by either Santos or Orlando would help them seal their spot in the next round. Nonetheless, all hell would break loose if these teams draw their match on Saturday and Santos won the penalty shootout, which would see all teams with three points. This will be the second match ever between these teams, and Santos were able to defeat the Lions back then. Will we see a similar outcome to Saturday's clash?

Austin vs Juárez
All bets will also be off when Austin and Juárez lock horns at Q2 Stadium this Saturday. Bravos have a slight upper hand over Austin, as they collected one point from their loss to Mazatlán, while the hosts succumbed 3-0 to Los Cañoneros to risk their spot in the next round. A draw here would also complicate things in terms of who makes the next round, but if Juárez can prove their worth and show the same sort of playing style they have put up in Liga MX, then the hosts may have to worry about their real chances of reaching the KO stage in group South 1.

Pumas UNAM vs DC United
Pumas UNAM did not leave a lasting impression in their first match, and now the club led by Antonio Mohamed is facing elimination right in the eye against DC United, a team that has already qualified to the next round.
