Those who forget where they come from are destined to be forgotten, and fortunately for Jesse Lingard, that was not his case today.
The former Manchester United player returned to Old Trafford following his traumatic exit from the team in the summer, but fans did not forget about him in his return, even providing him a standing ovation when he left the pitch.
Lingard started the game and even created a few chances for Nottingham Forest, but his efforts proved to be pointless as the Red Devils took home the points. Lingard was taken off after 53 minutes after picking up an injury, and while he left the pitch, he clapped at Man United supporters as a sign of respect for his life at Old Trafford. In what turned out to be a special moment, the team's fans did not hold back and responded the same way.

Lingard spoke in ill terms about his exit from the club, where he was not even granted the chance to bid farewell to the fans. Today, he had his moment and he can carry on with his career in peace.
