The Spaniard is keen on bolstering his defense and is thus reportedly ready to move for this Man City center-back.

Arsenal are in need of defensive recruitments. With Chambers looking to miss the rest of the season due to injury and Mavropanos joining Nuremberg on loan, the Gunners are short in numbers in the center-back department.

As a result, the north London giants are on the hunt for signing and according to the Sun, they are plotting a move for one Man City man. New coach Mikel Arteta might have left the Etihad Stadium less than a month ago but he is reportedly ready to raid his former club.

The British tabloid claim Arsenal have their eyes on John Stones and are prioritizing the English center-back. The Sun write that the Gunners would even be open to snatching him up on a loan move if a permanent deal is out of the question.

Furthermore, they go on to state that the Englishman himself is keen on reuniting with Arteta, a man whom he is close with and shares the same agency with. However, it is hard to see the Citizens letting go of a defender given that they are in the midst of their own defensive crisis.

Stones’ reason for wanting out is due to the upcoming Euro 2020 competition. The Englishman has fallen out of favor at the Etihad Stadium and thus seeks playing time elsewhere to boost his odds of starting for the Three Lions in this summer’s competition.

With only two years left on his Man City deal, Stones could be just what Arteta needs – a defender who can play it out from the back. Despite his recent form, the former Everton man played a crucial role in Guardiola’s back-to-back Premier League wins and could return to his best. Despite all of this, it is difficult to see the champions of England letting go of a center-back at this moment.
