Atlético's lat surge -and a little help from VAR- left Barcelona without the first big title of the season. Is it the end for the Txingurri?

One more KO stage game, another dark night for Barcelona fans.

Everything seemed to be moving along just fine for Los Culés, but two controversial rulings by the Video Assistant Referee and a late surge by Atlético ended in nightmare for Barcelona, who allowed the ticket for the Super Cup final to slip away from their hands.

This new loss has apparently kicked off all the alarms at Camp Nou, and according to Catalan media outlet RAC1, the team's hierarchy has already scheduled a meeting on Monday, with the coach's future as the main topic of discussion.

According to RAC1, the decision will be postponed until Monday to calm the tension between those who want to let Valverde go and the boss. Added to that, president Josep María Bartomeu is still weighing in all options, but as of now, he is keen on keeping Valverde around for the rest of the season.

Speaking after the game, the coach admitted that this kind of pressure comes with the job, especially if the team keeps losing crucial games.

"Us coaches know that our work will speak for ourselves. We know that stability will come whenever you lose a game. There will be discussions on this matter, but I will stay focused on turning things around," Valverde said.
