In addition, Sporting Braga has also crept up on them and sits just one point behind Sporting CP, meaning that loss here could see them drop out of the top three heading into the midway point of this season.
The loss marked Sporting CP's first in their past five games, but they have a pretty strong home record overall, and more important, against Sporting Braga. The visitors haven't beaten their hosts at this ground since August 2009, and overall, it has been over four years since they last tasted victory against a very familiar foe. Hence, should they come out on top, it will have been a long time coming.
