After Portugal squeezed past Poland in the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, Cristiano Ronaldo says he has moved closer to his 'dream' of lifting an international title.

Ronaldo and Co. endured a difficult night against Adam Nawałka's men, as the game ended in a 1-1 draw, which resulted in a penalty shoot-out. The Real Madrid striker was the first to kick from the spot, firing the ball to the back of the net. Portugal won 5-3 on penalties taking Fernando Santos' side one step closer to European glory.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, the Portuguese star said:

"The dream is getting closer, and anything can happen now. I'm not missing anything (in honours) and even if my career finished today, I would still feel privileged.

"But I've always said, and I don't hide it, that I would love to win a title with the national team. We're on the right road."

Portugal is set to face the winners of Friday's UEFA Euro 2016 quarter-final clash between Wales and Belgium, and Ronaldo believes Chris Coleman's side could surprise the Red Devils.

"We'll see who we get now. They are two very good teams.

"Wales, like Iceland, have caused a surprise since the start. As for Belgium, they've been showing their progress for several years already."
