Club football is all but over, with another round of international friendlies upon us. Several nations will take this opportunity to put their players through the pace before heading out to two exciting continental tournaments due in the summer.
One is the much anticipated Copa America Centenario affair, with Brazil gearing up for the tournament with a clash with Panama on Sunday. Which side will win their last friendly before the tournament's kick-off?
Brazil
The South American powerhouse will gear up for their Copa America Centenario campaign with a friendly. The game will be their last game before kicking starting their journey in the United States for the ceremonial competition marking the tournament’s 100 year anniversary.
The Selecao will travel to Denver, Colorado, where they will lock horns with Panama at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park, as Dunga will be handed one last chance to experiment with his squad if any doubt remains over his current crop of payers.
The 8-time Copa America champions head into the tournament’s latest edition after their disappointing run in the 2015 competition, but this time they will be without star attacker Neymar, who’ll not compete in the competition.
However, the five-time World Cup champions will have experienced midfielder Kaka in their 23-man squad, having been named as the replacement for the injured Bayern superstar Douglas Costa, whilst Jonan of Benfica came in as a last-minute replacement for Ricardo Oliveira.
Santos attacker Lucas Lima is one man looking to leave his mark in the expanded, 16-participant tournament, having been handed the number 10 jersey in Neymar's absence. The 25-year-old, vying for a spot int the starting eleven, expressed deep in honor in being handed the famous number, saying (as per Four Four Two):
"I am very happy. It is a great honour for me," the 25-year-old said of being given the number 10 shirt.
"Everyone dreams of playing in the number 10. It is a great privilege. I hope to live up to it, as has everyone else who has worn it, and make a real difference to the team."
Brazil, who were placed in Group B, will face off against Ecuador, Peru, and Haiti in the first round of the Copa America Centenario
Panama
Hernán Darío Gómez's boys head into Sunday's game on the back of a fair form, having won two, drawn 2, and lost only once in their last 5 games. The central American nation will see this friendly as a great warm-up for Copa America Centenario, as they'll face similar South American powerhouses in the group stage in the form of Argentina and reigning champions Chile.
Placed in Group D alongside Bolivia, Panama will be without striker Ismael Diaz, as the 19-year-old was ruled out of the highly-anticipated tournament due to a persistent knee problem.
