Chelsea have tied John Terry down to a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

The long-serving Blues captain certainly looked to be hanging up his boots as a Chelsea player this summer, but things took a turn when the English club made an unexpected announcement of providing a one-year extension for the 35-year old.

Terry, whose current contract expires on June 30, has instantly agreed to this new deal and will be staying for one more year at the Stamford Bridge under incoming manager Antonio Conte.

"I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Everyone knows I'm Chelsea through and through," said Terry.

"I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one. Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support. You're the best in the world."

The former England captain has reportedly received lucrative offers from mega-rich Chinese clubs, but Terry is determined to finish his career as a Blues man. The centre-back has made an astonishing 703 appearances since his debut in 1998.
