1884
A meeting was held in the garden shed of a house on Fosse Road, Leicester. The meeting led to the birth of Leicester Fosse. By the time of its formation, Leicester was not yet a city, hence the use of the name ‘Fosse’ Roman road in England.
1919
Leicester Fosse was renamed to Leicester City Football Club upon the resumption of the Football League. The league had been suspended during the World War I. At that particular time, Leicester had been confirmed as a city.
1929
The Foxes cruised to their highest finish in the Football League. They were runners-up to Sheffield Wednesday in 1929.
1949
The Foxes reached the FA Cup final for the first time in their history. However, they lost 3-1 to Wolves.

1969
They reached the FA club final for the last time in their history up to date, but lost by a solitary goal to Manchester City.
1971
They won their first ever Charity Shield. This was against Liverpool, and it is their only Charity Shield win to date.
1997
Gary Lineker joined the Foxes after leaving school, and turned professional in the 1978/79 season.
2000
The Foxes won the League Cup. This was their third League Cup win in their history.
2014
The Foxes were promoted to the Premier League after missing out for the past 14 years. They also won the Football League Championship and became the champions of England’s second division. This was the seventh time they were being crowned champions of the second division.
2015
The Foxes were staring right into the face of relegation. They were sitting at the bottom of the league table after collecting only 19 points from 29 games. However, a miraculous turn of events saw them win seven of their remaining nine league games, and finished 14th with 41 points, hence surviving the axe.
2016
After appointing former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri, who had been sacked by Greece four months before his new job at the King Power Stadium, Leicester won the Premier League on May 2, 2016 after a fairy-tale season. This was accompanied by individual success by some of their key players such as Riyad Mahrez who was named the PFA Player of the Year and Jamie Vardy, who won the FWA Player of the Year award.
