Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez has revealed the secret behind his side’s success in the Premier League, and it all goes down to one man; Claudio Ranieri.
The Foxes are eyeing their first-ever league title, and this dream could be transformed into reality when Chelsea host Spurs at the Stamford Bridge later today. If the Blues beat the Lillywhites, then the Foxes will be declared the 2015/16 champions.
Some few weeks ago, when the Foxes were leading the league table, some fans compared them to the proverbial elephant that climbed a tree. No one really knew how it got there, but everyone seemed to know how it would come crashing down with a thud. But Leicester’s story is quite different, as per now, they are in firm control of the league table, and they will only come down to celebrate the hard-fought victory.
And the fruits of their hard work and determination are already paying off; in a span of a week, their star forward Riyad Mahrez was named the PFA Player of the Year, and Jamie Vardy the FWA Player of the Year. Speaking of Vardy, the soft-spoken Algerian recently confessed that manager Ranieri has a special set of words that he tells his men when preparing them for battle against their league opponents. He revealed:
“His thing is to tell us: 'Be smart, you are foxes,
"In training, he has fun all the time. Less on match days. Then he is concentrated on the job. I try to joke with him, tell him he is late, laugh at his shoes, but even if he smiles, he says to me: 'Oh, oh, concentrate on the match.’'
Whether the manager’s words are inspirational or not, they have for sure instilled some sense of confidence to the Foxes this season. Ranieri's men welcome Everton at the King Power Stadium next weekend.
