Athletic Bilbao host Simeone’s Atlético Madrid this Wednesday, as Los Leones aim to extend their points in order to secure a Champions League spot next season.

The hosts scraped a win against Malaga last Saturday, to further their lead (54) in hunt for the fourth spot in La Liga. On Wednesday, they welcome co-leaders Atlético Madrid to the San Mamés Stadium, in hopes of securing the points at home.

Diego Simeone’s men are possibly in their best form to date, as they intend to continue their brilliant run in La Liga at the San Mamés Stadium. With 76 points on the table for Atlético Madrid, the visitors are looking for their fourth consecutive win in the Spanish League, aiming to surpass defending champions, FC Barcelona.

The home side trails the “Yellow Submarine,” Villarreal by six points on La Liga table, as Ernesto Valverde’s boys will be fighting to end their last five games in a strong manner.

Team news - who's fit and who's not?

The Basque group will be without their main man, Aritz Aduriz after the Spanish international picked up a small tear in his left thigh during the Europa League quarterfinals. Central defenders, Unai Bilbao (bicep), and Aymeric Laporte (ankle/leg) are also set to miss the match due to their ongoing injuries. In addition, Valverde has to deal with the “Colchoneros” without his strikers, Asier Villalibre and Aymeric Laporte, both suffering hamstring tears. The only doubtful player on the injury list for this anticipated clash is striker Iñaki Williams(thigh).

Yet, in the Madrid capital all is looking well for the “Rojiblancos.” Simeone will be pleased to travel with an almost fully fit squad to the San Mamés stadium, in hopes to clinch three golden points for La Liga race. The only two doubtful players for the Argentine coach ahead of this match is midfielder Tiago (leg) and central defender Jose Gimenez, who picked up a hamstring injury back in late March. However, the one major downside to this fierce Madrid team is the suspension of captain, Gabi.
