Jurgen Klopp will be looking for his first win as manager of Liverpool when his side takes on Southampton. Both of Klopp's first two matches ended in draws, with his side failing to get the better of Russian side Rubin Kazan in the German's first home Liverpool game.
Former Swansea man Joe Allen is hopeful Liverpool can turn Anfield into a fortress in a similar fashion they managed to do so two seasons back. Liverpool came close to winning the season that time out, winning 16 out of their 19 home league games.
"Home form is something huge for any team, but I think if you look back to the season where we finished runners-up our home form was incredible,” Allen told Liverpool's official website.
"Teams were dreading coming to Anfield and you almost felt that walking out onto the pitch, and you were ahead already.
"That’s what we want to try and recreate and give the fans things to cheer about."
The Welshman is hopeful his side can produce better performances under their new manager and has claimed that the fans appear content with the philosophy Klopp is trying to bring to Liverpool.
"We want good results, exciting performances and I think the brand of football the manager wants to bring is going to do that in itself," he concluded.
"I think the supporters will respond really well to it and it only takes one or two things to set that ball rolling, and hopefully we can go on a great run at Anfield."
Southampton on the other hand are ninth in the table and are currently on a good run. The Saints are currently on a four match unbeaten run and also defeated Chelsea 3-1 in the process. They are also expected to welcome back a number of key players including the likes of Steven Davis, Victor Wanyama and Jay Rodriguez, Shane Long is however a doubt for the match.
Liverpool on the other hand will continue to be without Daniel Sturridge but Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke are expected to feature.
