After Monday’s disappointing 0-0 home draw with Liverpool, Arsenal fans were hoping to see their side return to their best in their clash with Newcastle.
The Gunners traveled to St. James Park on Saturday without star playmaker Mesut Ozil, who picked up a "minor knee injury", but the legions of supporters still held high hopes for the north London side.

Wenger’s crew missed a wonderful goalscoring chance and had a penalty shout denied early on in the game, but things turned in Arsenal’s favor after 16 minutes when The Magpies were reduced to 10-men after Aleksandar Mitrovic's straight red for a nasty challenge on Francis Coquelin.
Despite the one-man advantage, Arsenal were unable to create genuine goalscoring opportunities, and squandered the few that came their way, leaving the away fans in frustration.
The Gunners did eventually find the breakthrough after the break, but courtesy of a 52nd minute Fabricio Coloccini own-goal.

The victory saw Sanchez and Co. grab their seventh point in four games of the new English Premier League season, but fans were not too pleased with their team’s lackluster display, singling out their strikers after the final whistle.
Many have been demanding the signing of a world-class attacker by Le Prof, Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and PSG’s Edinson Cavani in particular, but with the transfer window deadline day four days away, the odds of this occurring are swiftly diminishing.

we'll look back on that as a decent 3 points later in the season, but really should be scoring more. Nothing enjoyable about that #arsenal

A world class centre forward in that side today and Arsenal would have won that game four or five nil.

Imagine believing there is no striker out there that is better than Giroud, Walcott and Welbeck! #banter #arsenal

Important 3 points for Arsenal. But can't be happy with overall performance. Really must try & get a new striker in before the window closes

4 games in & Coloccini is Arsenal's joint top goal scorer. 2 days to go.
