The Mexican striker currently playing for Club America accused two sisters of extorsion, but the evidence was not admitted and now the player will have to be investigated.

One of Mexico's top players may end up serving jail time. Striker Oribe Peralta, part of El Tri's World Cup squad this summer, will have to go under investigation after accusing two sisters of extorsion.

Weeks ago, Peralta was summoned to declare in a case where two sisters wanted the player to pay them $50,000 dollars in exchange for not making public some "controversial photos" involving the striker. The case ended up in court, the sisters were thrown in jail, but now the defense's attorney claims the evidence was not clear, and the player will have to clarify this situation:

"That morning, Peralta and another person called the alleged criminals. It's the first time I've heard that the person being asked for money calls the people that are asking for it. This is just one of the flagrant lies Mr. Peralta told the judge," said Ricardo Sanchez, the defense's attorney.

If he is found guilty, Oribe Peralta could face a harsh penalty, since it's considered a crime to give false testimony. The striker signed one of the most lucrative contracts in Liga MX's history, being transferred from Santos to Club America, who paid 10 million dollars for his services. So far, Oribe's contribution for America has been rather low, having scored just three goals in ten matches with Las Aguilas.
