About
TLN history, coverage, features
Telelatino, commonly known as TLN TV or simply TLN, is a Canadian English-language television channel owned by TLN Media Group. Founded in October 1984, the channel initially focused on Spanish and Italian-language programming for Canada’s foreign residents. However, following a relaunch in 2018, TLN shifted its focus predominantly to English content, transferring foreign-language shows to its sister channels. The channel has primarily centered on travel and cuisine-related programming, but live sports—especially football—have also been key features since its inception. For example, TLN TV first broadcast the popular European football league Serie A in 1984. In 2018, the channel secured exclusive rights to all Italian top-flight games in a deal that extended through the 2020-21 season.
In 2024, TLN acquired the rights to broadcast three live Serie A games per weekend in a deal also including coverage of the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana. Prior to that, the channel held exclusive Canadian broadcast rights to the UEFA Europa League from 2009 to 2011 and televised UEFA Champions League matches featuring Spanish and Italian teams from 2002 to 2009.
TLN TV also has a history of broadcasting North American football tournaments, securing Spanish-language rights to the 2025 Concacaf Nations League Finals and the Gold Cup. Coverage was handled in collaboration with Univision Canada. Other notable soccer tournaments aired on TLN TV include the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup editions, as well as the 2015 Pan American Games, through partnerships with CBS Sports and ESPN Deportes.
Throughout its history, TLN has been accessible via several major Canadian TV providers, including Bell TV, Rogers, and Shaw Direct, although availability may change. Additionally, viewers can stream content on TLN+ and VIVA Streaming.
