Jose Mourinho is determined to avoid a ‘total catastrophe’ during Tuesday’s Spanish Copa del Rey match between inconsistent Real Madrid and third-tier side Alcoyano at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Jose Mourinho has asked Real Madrid players to take their Spanish Copa del Rey Round of 32 second leg fixture against Alcoyano seriously.Jose Mourinho is under scrutiny as Real Madrid’s recent performances and results have not lived to expectations. On Tuesday night, the outspoken Portuguese man will lead Los Blancos against Segunda B side Alcoyano in the second leg of their Spanish Copa del Rey Round of 32 tie.

Real Madrid are clear favourites to progress into the next stage with a 4-1 advantage. However, Jose Mourinho is not taking anything for granted. Los Blancos could afford to lose and still qualify but the ‘Only One’ is contemplating nothing else than a resounding victory.

“[On Tuesday] it will not be enough if we lose by a goal or draw and still get through to the next round. We have to win and play well against Alcoyano,” Jose Mourinho told FIFA.com ahead of the match.

“We have to play at our best and if we don't get through it would be a total catastrophe, but we have an obligation to people to take the match with the seriousness that the competition and Alcoyano deserve.”

Real Madrid will feature a number of youngsters with Kaka and Modric also expected to play a role. Los Blancos have managed only three wins in their last six fixtures in all competitions. They qualified to the Last 16 of the UEFA Champions League with an unconvincing draw away to Manchester City. Last weekend, they fell 11 points behind Barcelona in La Liga.

Pressure is mounting on Jose Mourinho to seduce fans by getting his players to perform. Tuesday’s Spanish Copa del Rey second leg encounter at home to Alcoyano will present a great opportunity for Real Madrid to get things right before chaos installs itself in the camp.
