Although he wasn't on the score-sheet, the England skipper still played his part as the Three Lions cruised to a 6-2 win over Iran.

Monday saw England kick off their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in resounding fashion, as the Three Lions roared to a 6-2 win over Iran.

With Wales and the USA settling for a one-all draw, that result leaves Gareth Southgate's side on top of Group B as they prepare to take on the Stars and Stripes on Friday.

However, the win has come at a price, as skipper Harry Kane suffered an injury following a nasty tackle by an Iranian defender in the first half. While the Tottenham ace came back onto the pitch for the second half, he ultimately was subbed off as a likely precaution with England already firmly in control of the match.

New reports indicate that it appears that Kane has sustained some kind of ankle injury, as he was seen limping with a bag of ice strapped to his leg. While this will come as a natural concern, fortunately, he will have plenty of time to recover as England don't face the USA until Friday.

That will hopefully come as a big relief as Kane is chasing a very important record - to become England's all-time top goal scorer in major tournaments. With 51 so far, he's only a bit behind Wayne Rooney's 53, and as such could potentially surpass the former Manchester United legend at this year's World Cup.
