The game between PSG and Istanbul Basaksehir restarted where the controversy ignited, but before the odd kickoff, players for both teams and the new referees took a knee to protest against racism.
The emotional moment was also highlighted by the UEFA Champions League anthem, as all players took a knee and raised their fists to replicate the "Black Lives Matter" protests. The only ones not raising their fists were the referees.
Prior to this protest, all players warmed up on the pitch wearing shirts that read "No to racism".
