Manchester United were caught on the back foot in the first half of Wednesday's Premier League clash with Paul Pogba gifting West Ham an opportunity to take the lead. The 27-year-old Frenchman conceded a penalty in stoppage time ahead of the break to put the Reds at a disadvantage.

Manchester United were undoubtedly the better side for the most part of the half and were only denied the lead due to a couple of saves by Lukas Fabianski. Despite getting the best chances, Solskjaer's men were punished by a pragmatic West Ham side a few seconds before the break.

First, Timothy Fosu Mensah conceded a free-kick at the edge of his side's penalty area after being down a charging Michal Antonio. In the routine to attempt the setpiece, Declan Rice had his shot on goal handled by Paul Pogba in his side's penalty area. The VAR subsequently awarded the visitors a penalty which was expertly converted by Antonio.
