The Welsh ace did not hold back when discussing the uncertainty he lived during the last few months as a Real Madrid outcast.

There were many articles that stated how Gareth Bale was nearing an exit from Real Madrid, and the player did not shy away from confirming such claims.

Speaking in a press conference with the Welsh National Team, Real Madrid's wingman admitted that the last few weeks were a test to his character, but in the end, he has found a way to make things work during the first games of the season.

"Honestly, this was not the best summer for me, but it was not the worst I can remember. I know how to get over these situations, and the best thing you can do is getting away from everything they say about you and concentrate on working harder," Bale said.

The Welshman looked back at the criticism from Real Madrid fans and experts, and admitted that he rarely pays attention to what comes up in the media about him.

"I don't really care (about the criticism), I try not to read stuff about me because those who write don't have an idea of what's going on or what they are talking about," Bale suggested.

The footballer referred to the harsh comments against him due to his habit of playing golf.

"Football is my passion, that's never going to change. We all have hobbies, and mine happens to be golf. I don't know if there's something wrong with it, but people tend to make storm out of stupid things. Playing golf helps me keep calm, I can disconnect from everthing and it keeps me centered," Bale added.

The only topic Bale refused to discuss was his botched transfer to the Chinese Super League. The player urged the reporter who asked the question to ask Real Madrid why he ended up staying at the Bernabeu.

Bale is expected to lead Wales in their quest for more points against Azerbaijan. As of now, the Welsh side has only collected three points, which puts their chances of making back-to-back appearances in the UEFA Euro finals in serious jeopardy.
