His deal with Chelsea runs until 2020, meaning the Blues can choose to hold onto their star player this summer. However, according to the Times, one thing aiding the Spanish giant’s pursuit is Antonio Conte’s tactics.
The report states the former Lille ace is frustrated with the manager’s tactics, even publicly slating Conte’s set-up and plan in the 1-0 loss to Man City. The Italian was heavily criticised for ignoring attacking in favor of defending even when trailing, with Hazard claiming he would not have touched the ball had the game gone on for three hours.
Furthermore, there is the manager’s continuous disagreement with the board. Eden feels the tactician’s fighting with the club’s hierarchy is ruining Chelsea’s, with other players sharing the same opinion.
The 27-year-old is stalling over signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge. He wishes to bide his time and see if Zidane’s side makes an offer for him. This has left the London giant with unease and could thus be forced to cash in on the Belgian.
There is the chance that Conte gets sacked this summer. Should an exciting boss replace him, Hazard’s interest in jumping ships could die down.
Of course, Real Madrid should not be worried about transfer targets at this point of the season. The Spanish outfit is struggling in La Liga but appears destined to make the Champions League quarter-final. All they must do is hold onto their 3-1 lead in the second leg of their PSG clash and a spot in the last eight is guaranteed.
