Having both sprained his ankle and broken his fifth metatarsal, the player will reportedly have surgery to be fully fit for the World Cup.

It is official: Neymar is out of PSG’s second leg Champions League clash with Real Madrid next week. To make things worse, the Brazilian is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up a nasty injury in the 3-0 win over Marseille.

The world’s most expensive player was left in excruciating pain and had to be stretchered off after rolling his ankle in Le Classique. Unai Emery was optimistic that he would recover in time, but his hope was dashed away when it was revealed that the player both sprained his ankle and broke his fifth metatarsal.

Gabriel Jesus suffered a similar injury this season and was ruled out for two months, with Neymar expected to be out for that same amount of time. Like his Brazilian team-mate, the former Barcelona ace has chosen to undergo surgery on his foot in order to be fully fit for the 2018 World Cup this summer.

Sadly for Les Parisiens, this means they will be without the Selecao ace for a number of games until the end of April. The most important tie is the Parc des Princes encounter with Cristiano and Co.

The Ligue 1 giant must now overturn the 3-1 deficit, but Neymar might still even miss out on the quarter-final should his team get past Los Blancos, as the last eight begins in the first week of April. Without a question, the Brazilian will not be able to participate in Wednesday’s quarter-final clash against Marseille in the French Cup.

The trip to Nice on March 18 will also come to quick for the 26-year-old, as well as a friendly against Germany nine days later. See the games Neymar will miss below.
