Marca wrote that a world-record deal for the teenager had been agreed upon, but the Ligue 1 giants were quick to clarify things.

According to Marca on Tuesday, Real Madrid had finally won the race for Kylian Mbappe. The Spanish publication claimed that the deal would shatter the world-record transfer fee, with this alleged transfer reaching €180m.

Marca wrote that a principle deal had been reached which would see Los Blancos pay €160m upfront and €20m in add-ons. The player is rumored to have signed a six-year deal which would see him earn €7m-per-season.

If true, this will come as little surprise. The Champions League holders were always favorites to sign the French teenager, ahead of Man City and Arsenal, but his fee would raise eyebrows.

Unfortunately for Real Madrid, Monaco have denied this report. According to Sky Sports, the Ligue 1 champions claim that no deal has been reached with the Spanish giants over the sale of their highly-rated attacker.

Les Rouge et Blanc’s desire to keep hold of Mbappe is understandable. In a transfer window which has seen them lose Silva, Bakayoko, and Mendy; losing Kylian would shatter their title-winning side. However, Jardim needs to rebuild his squad regardless, and the fee Mbappe would rack in would do wonders for the Ligue 1 side.

The teenager’s future could dramatically affect the Premier League as well. Should he stay, Arsenal’s odds of signing Thomas Lemar will remain alive. The Gunners are fighting hard for the French winger, and Mbappe’s exit would only end Wenger’s hopes.

Although there is still a chance of Monaco keeping both Mbappe and Lemar, the latter’s desire to play in England would be aided by Kylian staying. If the 18-year-old leaves, the Gunners’ chase would be over but another Premier League move could arise.

Man United’s move for Gareth Bale will return to the headlines if Real Madrid sign the French starlet. The Welshman endured a rough 2016/17 campaign due to injuries, and the arrival of Mbappe would mean less playing time for the former Tottenham ace.
