The Portuguese star’s run-in with tax authorities was the underlining issue, as he was infuriated by accusations of tax evasion. Other outlets claimed the four-time Ballon d’Or winner was unhappy with the lack of support from Los Blancos.
Rumors linking the 32-year-old with an exit have died done, but have not gone away completely. Manager Zinedine Zidane looks to kill them off entirely by publicly claiming their star attacker will be at Real Madrid next season.
The French legend is currently in United States with his team for their pre-season tour. There was where Zizou gave reassuring news to Real Madrid fans about their all-time leading scorer’s future.
"He is on vacation. He is resting and deserves it," Zidane told ESPN (as per beIN Sports).
"We will wait and when the vacation ends, he will return with us and that's it.
"Talk to Cristiano? No, because in the end Cristiano is at Madrid and is going to stay with us and that's it."
Cristiano hasn’t traveled with the Champions League and La Liga holders. He was given extra time off after his Confederations Cup campaign and the birth of his twins.
