AC Milan’s aim to return to the top of European football has seen them spend big in the current summer transfer window. Several names have arrived at San Siro since the end of last season, with the likes of Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Andre Silva, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Leonardo Bonucci signing for the Rossoneri.
However, according to recent rumors, the Serie A giants aren’t stopping there. Milan are eyeing a reliable goalscorer, with their attention now on Alvaro Morata.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are “on the verge” of signing Real Madrid’s wantaway striker. The Italian club have tabled a €70m bid for the Spaniard and they believe this fee to be enough to convince Los Blancos into selling.
Morata came close to a Premier League move. The former Juventus ace appeared destined for an Old Trafford switch, but Man United signed Lukaku instead, thus paving the way for Alvaro’s Serie A return.
The Rossoneri are also interested in another young and promising European ace: Renato Sanches. The 19-year-old has struggled at Bayern Munich despite arriving as a Euro 2016 winner.
The Portuguese youngster has only started six Bundesliga games and could thus be keen on a move elsewhere. Milan want the midfielder on a two-year loan, as confirmed by Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, with the option of making his stay permanent for €47m.
