Chile could be without star attacker Alexis Sanchez after suffering an injury ahead of the 2017 Confederations Cup kick-off. The Arsenal attacker was with La Roja preparing for their opening game – on Sunday vs Cameroon.
A picture emerged of the former Barca man in visibly pain. The 28-year-old’s ankle was wrapped with an ice pack as he limped onto the team coach.
This is worrying for the Copa America champions, but Matias Grez of CNN Sport tweeted that the South American ace is a doubt for their opening game. Chris Wheatley of Goal claims that the knock was a “minor ankle injury” picked up during training.

There has been no mention of Alexis missing the tournament, which is excellent news for Chile. The Gunners ace guided his national side to two final wins over Argentina. He will now be needed to help beat the likes of Portugal and Germany to the Confederations Cup title.
Sanchez must impress in Russia. The attacker is keen on an Emirates Stadium exit after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League. Chelsea, Man City, and Bayern are interested in his services but Wenger would only entertain the thought of a move abroad.
The Citizens, Alexis’ preferred destination, could convince Wenger to sell with a generous bid should the Chilean prove he is one of the best at the Confederations Cup.
