With the initial date of the Celta-Real Madrid match being February 5, Los Blancos' fans had reason to worry about their team's chances of success against Los Celestes. In the upcoming months, things seem to have changed, and the prospect of a win seems better than ever for Zinedine Zidane's crew, giving them the edge over Barcelona in the title race.
The team from Vigo made it abundantly clear that their main goal this season was to have a successful run in the UEFA Europa League, and reaching the semi-finals had them sacrificing some of their domestic games. With most of their starters playing the continental competition, the rest of their games saw some subs taking a more stellar role, with disappointing results for Berizzo's team.
Out of their 16 most recent games in La Liga, all of them coming after February 5, Celta has only been able to win four games. Ten of those matches have ended with a loss for Berizzo's crew, adding two draws to their tally.

If that wasn't enough, Celta's defense seems to have forgotten how to do their job, as they have only kept two clean sheets since February 12.
Even if these stats boost Real Madrid's ego ahead of this game, Celta earned a privilege this season that no other Spanish team can brag about.
