On Sunday, Arsenal beat Man United 2-0 to increases their hopes of making it into the top four. The Gunners remain in sixth, but are seven points behind third-placed Liverpool with two games in hand for Wenger’s side.
The Red Devils, on the other hand, have seen their top-four hopes take a huge blow. One man who was key to that defeat was English striker Danny Welbeck.
The 26-year-old’s first-half against Mourinho’s side was below average, but the Three Lions ace scored the decisive second goal to put the game beyond Man United. His close-range header was impossible to stop even by an in-form David De Gea.
Welbeck, sold by Man United to the Gunners, was deemed not good enough by then manager Louis Van Gaal. That decision to sell to a direct rivals has come back to bite the 20-time Premier League winners.
Danny has faced his former employers four times as an Arsenal man. Although the north London outfit have struggled against Man United, Welbeck has performed, scoring three times.
One of his goals came in a defeat – the 3-2 loss at Old Trafford last season. His first goal was a winner – in the 2-1 FA Cup victory over the Red Devils. His latest strike against his former club came in the 2-0 league win at the Emirates.
