A high-octane encounter awaits as two exciting sides square off

Dortmund

Thomas Tuchel's side come into this game still reeling after a heavy 4-1 loss to Bayern Munich. Die Schwarzgelben had won the first meeting earlier this season, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goal being the deciding factor, but this time, were no match for their bitter rivals. It also maked the first time in seven straight games that Aubameyang failed to score, and as a result, he slips to second in the race for the top scorer prize. Furthermore, the defeat meant that Dortmund meant that they failed to jump ahead of Hoffenheim, as third spot would guarantee them an automatic place in next year's Champons League.

In any case Gabonese star won't have much time to worry about his ranking in the domestic goals charts, as his former side Monaco are the highest scoring side in Europe, and his manager will need him to find his shooting boots once again. On a positive note, Marco Reus has reportedly returned to training, but given his unfortunate injury-prone nature, it remains to be seen if Tuchel will risk him for this match.

Monaco

Meanwhile, Leonardo Jardim's side are having one of their best ever campaigns. Although Monaco were crushed by PSG in the Coupe de la Ligue, they are still keeping Les Parisiens at bay in the race for the Ligue 1 title. Les Rouges-et-Blancs have also been quite solid so far in the Champions League, and impressively overcame Manchester City in a tense clash that saw them concede six goals over two legs, but still hung on to progress.

Like Dortmund, Monaco overall are a pretty youthful side. French youngster Kylian Mbappé is one of the rising talents in the game that has enjoyed a good season. On the opposite end of the spectrum, veteran attacker Radamel Falcao has experienced a renaissance that has seen him start grabbing goals after a rough past few years in the Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester United.

All in all, this looks set to be a high-scoring match as there have been over 2.5 goals scored in 13 of Monaco's last 16 European games, whilst the same amount have been recorded in all but two of Borussia Dortmund's last 10 European matches!
