Statistics show Seattle Sounders have been poor defensively this season, particularly away from home.

Seattle Sounders have a poor away record in the MLS. On Satruday April 8, when they conceded a late goal against San Jose Earthquakes, one thing was quite clear - the Sounder's defence was partly to blame.

A lackluster display by the visitor's defence saw Chris Wondolowski tap in a late winner in the 90th minute as the clash ended in a 1-1 draw. A win could have catapulted Brian Schmetzer's men up to the fourth spot on the MLS Western Conference table, but the draw sent them to sixth with six points from five matches.

Chris was clearly unmarked when he scored the last equalizer for SJ Earthquakes

Since the beginning of the 2017 MLS season, Sounders have not won away from home. Their first match was a 2-1 defeat away to Houston on March 4, and a 2-2 draw with Montreal Impact in Canada. Their latest draw is the third time they have failed to win away from home this season.

And according to Opta Jack, the Seattle-based giants have conceded in each of their last 13 games away from home in the MLS. Well, at least Schmetzer now knows one department that needs urgent fixing before it leaks more goals.
