But under one condition only...

Fans had little time to digest the debacle that unfolded with England’s national team and then manager Sam Allardyce, with the former Sunderland boss’ sacking swiftly following his caught-on-camera scandal.

However, supporters were quick to weigh in with their ideal candidates to succeed Big Sam at the helm of the Three Lions. One man being heavily linked with the job is Arsene Wenger.

The Arsenal tactician ticks all the right boxes: he knows the English game very well, he proved instrumental in the rise of some British football stars such as Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ashley Cole, and he has an amazing track record of nourishing young, exciting players – which the Three Lions have.

However, the question remains will the long-time Gunners boss, known to be addicted to the beautiful game, leave a club where he holds complete control in favor of a national side?

The Frenchman has finally opened up about the issue, and his words may leave some Arsenal supporters at unease, depending on their opinion on Le Prof.

As per Sky Sports, the 66-year-old admitted the he may one day lead the 1966 World Cup winners – music to the ears of the “Wenger Out” brigade and heartbreak for the Arsene idolizers.

It should be noted that the Arsenal boss insisted that he would only accept the job should he have no other club commitment. His current contract at the Emirates Stadium ends this season, but expect him to be offered several extensions from the board.

This comes after former FA executive director David Davies claimed (as per Reuters) that the Football Association have – most probably – already approached Wenger.

"I would like to be confident he [Wenger] had been asked, quite straightforwardly, if he would like to be England manager in the near future," Davies said.

"Not next week, or at Christmas, but when his contract ends, as he would like to fulfill it. They can have a caretaker until then, perhaps Gareth Southgate with an experienced assistant."
