Team news – David Luiz to make his 2nd Chelsea debut
Antonio Conte’s crew will host Liverpool without influential captain John Terry, currently sidelined with a foot injury. This means that the Friday game will see David Luiz make his second debut for the Blues.
The Brazilian center-back, known for his moments of magic and madness, rejoined Chelsea for £34m over the summer. However, he had to wait until Friday to make his second debut.
Elsewhere, Chelsea fans can expect a similar – if not identical – starting lineup to the one that grabbed a late 2-2 draw with Swansea.
Jurgen Klopp also boasts an almost fully fit squad for Friday’s game, with Joe Gomez – expected back next month – being the only long-term absentee.
Emre Can has made a return to full training, but the Reds boss admitted that the German needs time before re-entering the starting eleven. Meanwhile, Dejan Lovren is eligible to play, having recuperated from an awful black eye.
Klopp will face a selection headache with Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino, though the former Hoffenheim attacker is almost guaranteed a start.
