Pep Guardiola may be the highest-paid manager in football at the moment, but it’s his Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho who looks set to become the highest-earning manager out there.
The Portuguese tactician, who is set to do battle with Guardiola’s Manchester City side early on Saturday, earns £12.3m in wages at Old Trafford, just shy of the Spaniard’s £15.3m salary.
However, it is in total earnings – including endorsements – where the Special One looks to emerge head and shoulders above the competition.
According to the Telegraph, the 53-year-old will announce a new two-year deal with official Champions League sponsor and the Dutch beer company Heineken. Mourinho will become the new face of the company in a deal which will see him pocket £4m.
The deal – signed earlier this year – will see the former Chelsea boss become Heineken ‘s global football ambassador. Jose will star in their new campaign, set to be released on Tuesday.
This recent agreement will only add to Mourinho’s endorsements with the likes of Hublot watches, Jaguar, BT Sport, Adidas, Atlantis hotels, Lipton Tea and EA Sports, earning him £10m per year.
