England are hunting for their next manager after coach Roy Hodgson's resignation.

Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has opened up about the recent reports linking him with the England national football team job. This comes barely a week after former England manager Roy Hodgson was fired following a string of poor results at the Euro 2016. England were embarrassingly bundled out of the competition by minnows Iceland at the last 16, sparking nationwide outrage from fans.

Rodgers, who is the current manager of Scottish giants Celtic FC revealed that he had just found his ‘dream job’ after signing for the Celts. The Northern Irish man had emerged as a shock target for the Three Lions’ job for the better part of this week. Other candidates identified for the lucrative job include Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce, Crystal Palace’s Alan Pardew, West Ham’s Slaven Bilic, former Newcastle United player and manager Alan Shearer, England U21 boss Gareth Southgate and former English legend David Beckham.

Speaking about the rumors linking him with the England job, Rodgers said:

"I've just landed my dream job (at Celtic). The team I've supported all my life. I haven't even walked out for my first game.

"Imagine me as a Celtic supporter having walked out on the job at Parkhead!

"Is it flattering? It's football. There are very few professions where one minute you're up, then down, then up again - that's just how it goes.

"If people think I can do jobs at a high level, then that's fine.

"But I'm busy here, worrying about what I have to do here.

"I'll be at Celtic, that's for sure."

The 43-year-old has a wide range of managerial experience. He coached Chelsea’s youth team, Watford, Reading, Swansea, Liverpool and most recently Celtic. He signed a one-year contract with the Scottish giants after Ronny Deila’s sacking and is set to manage the club in the 2016/17 season.
