Arda Turan raised a few eyebrows with one of his latest Instagram posts, taking a stand against those who criticize the club for their recent performances, which have ended with Los Blaugranas overwhelming lead in La Liga.
Turan's post comes during a time in which Los Blaugranas have lost three straight games in La Liga for the first time since 2003, having Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid breathing down their neck and trying to strip them from the Spanish league's title.
Writing in Turkish and Spanish, Turan's message in his native tongue translates as follows.
"This is when you see everyones true intentions, this is when the mask drops. But times like this only strengthen us now we can get rid of the rotten apples and return stronger. We will never give up, it is not in my nature to give up and I will give everything to win all the trophies we are competing in. I am proud to be wearing the Barcelona shirt,” Turan's caption in Turkish states.
The Spanish version of his message leaves the "rotten apples" statement out.
"I'm proud to be wearing Barcelona's shirt, there are still two tournaments we can win. Visca Barça," can be read in Spanish.
While some sources like Spanish newspaper Marca claim that Turan referred to some of his team-mates, Turkish website Turkish-football.com believes that the player's rant was directed towards some members of the Spanish media, who often like to make up stories about the team to de-stabilize them.
Turan is expected to play against Deportivo on Wednesday at Riazor Stadium.
