Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has insisted that the Catalan giants will still win the league title, their recent bad form notwithstanding. The outspoken central defender was speaking to reporters after the disappointing 2-1 loss to mid table outfit Valencia on Sunday.

Following the unexpected loss, the Blaugrana are now tied on points (76) with Atletico Madrid but had a better goal difference, while their bitter rivals Real Madrid follow closely with 75 points at the third place. Luis Enrique’s men have now put themselves in a situation where they have to win all their remaining fixtures, and ensure that their goal tally remains high just in case Atletico win all of their remaining goals with a huge scoreline.
Back to Pique, he told reporters:
"We can't be worried when you look at the way we're playing
"If we play like this we'll win the league, I'm convinced of that
"Although it's a step backwards, playing this well will help the team mentally. We've recovered the sensations from a month ago."
About their performance against Valencia, coach Luis Enrique added:
"Feeling sorry for ourselves we won't win anything
"I think we have criticised ourselves when it has been necessary, but today is not a day to criticise my players, it is a day to congratulate them
"In the second half the players gave a lesson in how to face a situation like this. Until the 93rd minute they were trying to equalise and that is something to highlight.
"We've got a marvellous challenge. If we win the five games remaining we will be champions. If there is a team capable of doing it - and much more given what they have done - it is this Barca."
Having being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League by Atletico Madrid, Barca now have their eyes set on the league and Copa del Rey titles. Their next La Liga fixture will be against Deportivo La Coruna at Estadio Riazor.
