According to AS, the Liga BBVA champions are working hard to lure the Arsenal playmaker back to Spain.

Barcelona’s MSN (Messi, Suarez, and Neymar) trio is already the mostly deadly attacking unit in football; however, adding a killer playmaker like Mesut Ozil to the equation will be a prospect too scary to even fathom.

However, according to Spanish publication AS, this could become a reality, as they report that the Blaugrana are working on a deal which will hopefully (for the Blaugrana) lure the German ace to Camp Nou.

The 27-year-old Arsenal superstar has found himself performing at the same height which saw him rise to fame as the “Assist King” at Real Madrid, setting up a whopping 18 goals this captain after two roller-coaster seasons with the Gunners.

Fans of the north London side will not want to see their record signing leave the Emirates; however, two (huge) roadblocks stand in the way of the Catalan giants signing the World Cup winner.

Although his current deal will end in 2018, it is unsure whether Arsene Wenger would even entertain the thought of selling Mesut Ozil.

Secondly, the even bigger issue facing Barcelona is the fact that former employers Real Madrid have first-refusal on the German in an “anti-Barca” clause inserted into his Arsenal deal back in 2013.

Mesut Ozil, Olivier Giroud, Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Jordi Alba, Ivan Rakitic, Arsenal, Barcelona, UEFA Champions League

As revealed by whistle-blowers Football Leaks, should Arsenal accept any bid from a Liga BBVA team for Ozil, the Gunners must notify Los Blancos and offer the midfielder to the 10-time Champions League winners first.

Nonetheless, AS claim that Barca’s Roberto Fernandez is working hard to formulate a plan around Real Madrid’s right to first-refusal, which they may or may not exercise, by offering three players in exchange for Ozil: Arda Turan, Munir and Sando.

What a rumor in the lead-up to the exciting, upcoming El Clasico on April 2nd!
