After a nightmare year with English Premier League giants Manchester United, Victor Valdes spell with the Red Devils appears over, as a move to Standard de Liège was announced on Sunday.
The Spanish custodian had fallen out of favor with manager Louis Van Gaal, as he was even once demoted to a role in the under-21 squad, but has now found an escape route, temporarily at least, in a loan deal with The Rouches.
OFFICIAL: Victor Valdes joins Standard Liege on a season-long loan
The former Barca shot-stopper, who made only 2 appearances for Man United against Arsenal and Hull City, joins the Belgian giants effective immediately, and will remain there until the end of the season.
Valdes joined the Old Trafford side as a free agent, having left the Blaugrana, in January 2015, but featured in the 1-1 and goalless draws with the Gunners and The Tigers, respectively.

His stay with the Red Devils took a turn for the worse after the player allegedly refused to train with the reserve team, before a proposed move to Besiktas fell apart, as he was forbiden from practicing with the first-team.
Valdes' ill relationship with Van Gaal and the club was apparent in their statement over his loan deal, as their was no good luck message to the Spaniard.
Standard Liege, on the other hand, welcomed the experienced custodian, saying via their official website:
"His arrival will be a great opportunity for our young goalkeepers to develop themselves. Victor will bring over his year-long experience and the youth will get advice of one of the best goalkeepers in the world in the next few months.
"We are very proud and happy that we can receive such a professional. We would like to give a warm welcome to Victor VALDÉS and we wish him all the best at our club."
