One of Mexico's top rivalries will have one more chapter added to its book on Sunday, when current champions Club America visit Pumas UNAM, a team that always brings the best of them against their hated yellow opponents.
Pumas keeps struggling while playing at Estadio Olimpico, not being able to establish their dominance for quite some time now. For this match, coach Guillermo Vazquez will try to strenghten his defense, since they currently are the second team with the most goals allowed in the tournament. Young goalkeeper Alfredo Saldívar will have to step up his game, while striker Eduardo Herrera will try to damage Las Aguilas just like he did in the past postseason. Paraguayan defender Dario Veron might hold the key to hurt their opponents, since he is always a threat for America's defense in set pieces.
After a dubious start, Club America appears to be reaching the form most of their fans were expecting after a very busy offseason, where they hired four players to boost an already talented squad. The defending champions have won eight of their last ten games against Pumas, and they will try to add to that total on Sunday. Mexican international Oribe Peralta and recently signed Dario Benedetto are starting to mix their talents for the benefit of Gustavo Matosas' side, and being the best attacking unit among Liga MX's teams might be too much to handle for UNAM.
During the previous season, Pumas snapped America's unbeaten streak by winning 1-0 at Estadio Azteca, but Los Cremas had a chance to make thing better and eliminated UNAM from the Apertura 2014 playoffs, winning the defining match 1-0 with a header by Paolo Goltz.
