Brazil showed signs of recovery after picking up an impressive 2-0 victory over arch rivals Argentina. The match was highlighted by a brace from Diego Tardelli whose first two goals for the national side helped Brazil pick up an impressive win.
The Selecao head coach Dunga who has guided his side to three straight wins after taking the hot seat following Brazil's embarrassing World Cup campaign was delighted after a win against Argentina and claimed the victory to be a massive morale booster for his players.
"After the World Cup, beating the runners-up, who then went on to beat Germany [in a friendly last month] is fantastic," he said.
"It gives huge confidence to the players."
Dunga however was critical as to how his team started the match with the Brazilian tactician adamant in introducing a more dynamic style to the national side's game.
"The team wanted to attack too quickly, without working the ball," he added.
"At first we wanted to mark the defenders and left them to play. Then we began to press the ball and take our chances. Football is like that, you can’t play 90 minutes at the same intensity."
Japan on the other hand will be without their talismanic midfielder Shinji Kagawa who suffered a head injury during the national side's 1-0 win over Jamaica on Friday. As a result the former Man United star will not be able to take part in the all important match against Brazil and has flown back to Dortmund for further scans.
Kagawa's loss will surely be a huge one for the Asian side but their Mexican manager has insisted that his side do have a chance against Brazil should they perform like they did against Jamaica.
"I'm as relaxed as I always am," he said. "The result did not reflect our performance.
"I think we had four clear-cut chances we didn't take. I'm pleased with the way the team clicked, but I'm not satisfied with the result.
"If we play the way we did [against Jamaica] we might have a chance against Brazil. We had 20 shots against Jamaica. Against Brazil we might have one - and we'll need to take that."
Brazil have won eight out of the ten matches played between the two sides and will be confident of recording another win on Tuesday.
