Over I Liga
I Liga geschiedenis, opzet, organisatie, media-aandacht
De I Liga, of de Poolse Eerste Liga, is de op een na belangrijkste competitie in het Poolse voetbalsysteem. De competitie werd in 1948 gelanceerd en is sindsdien zonder onderbrekingen gehouden, met elk seizoen een verschillend aantal teams. Oorspronkelijk bestond de competitie uit twee groepen van tien teams, maar de meest recente herstructurering heeft het aantal teams vastgesteld op achttien.
Als tweede competitie in de Poolse voetbalpiramide werkt de I Liga met een promotie-degradatiesysteem, waarbij twee teams automatisch promoveren naar de Ekstraklasa en vier andere strijden om een extra promotieplaats in een play-off. Wat degradatie betreft, worden de drie laagst gerangschikte teams in de competitie automatisch gedegradeerd naar de Poolse Tweede Voetbal Liga.
De uitzendrechten van dit toernooi zijn toegekend aan Telewizja Polska, die de wedstrijden uitzenden en streamen via hun kanalen, zoals TVP Sport en TVP 1, of via hun streamingplatform (sport.tvp.pl) of hun app voor mobiele apparaten (TVP Sport App). De overeenkomst stelt het netwerk in staat om de competitie tot 2027 te verslaan.
