About

Sportsnet One history, coverage, features

Sportsnet One, commonly referred to as SN1 or SN One, is an English-language Canadian sports channel owned and operated by Rogers Sports and Media. Launched in August 2010, it is available in both standard definition and HD, with select programming also offered in 4K UHD.

Initially branded as “Rogers Sportsnet One,” the channel underwent a rebranding in October 2011. Sportsnet One serves as a national feed that enhances Sportsnet’s coverage of major sporting events while featuring what are known as companion channels.

Companion channels are localized, part-time feeds that air sporting events whose broadcasts are limited to the local territories of the teams involved. These companion channels are not available as standalone options but are offered at no additional cost to Sportsnet One subscribers. Examples include Sportsnet Flames, which broadcasts Calgary Flames’ NHL games in their home region; Sportsnet Oilers, providing coverage of Edmonton Oilers’ NHL matches in their area; and Sportsnet Canucks (formerly known as Sportsnet Vancouver Hockey), which

Examples of companion channels include Sportsnet Flames, which broadcast Calgary Flames’ NHL games in the Flames region; Sportsnet Oilers, which televises Edmonton Oilers’ NHL matches in the Oilers region; and Sportsnet Canucks (previously known as Sportsnet Vancouver Hockey), which covers Vancouver Canucks’ NHL matches in the Canucks region.

Since its inception, Sportsnet One has showcased a variety of sporting events, including NBA games featuring the Toronto Raptors and select matchups involving Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays. The channel has also aired events from the Premier League, National Hockey League (NHL), and cycling at various points. However, due to changing broadcast rights deals, these competitions may no longer be available on the platform.
