The CAF U-23 Championship is the main international football tournament for under African 23 players. It was founded in 2011 and is organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) every four years.
The tournament also doubles up as the qualifiers for the Summer Olympics. The top three teams automatically qualify for the Olympic Games whereas the fourth-placed finisher features in a play-off against a team from the Asian Football Confederation.
