About Erovnuli Liga
Erovnuli Liga History, Format, Organization, Media Coverage
The Erovnuli Liga is the top-flight league in Georgia. The competition initially began as a regional tournament within the Soviet Union in 1927 and remained this way until 1989. The championship, under its current format, was founded in 1990 and is run by the Professional Football League of Georgia and Georgian Football Federation. The competition follows a spring-autumn schedule – this switch was made in 2017 – and boasts a promotion/relegation system.
