About SKY Go Italia

Sky Go is an Italian over-the-top (OTT) subscription streaming service operated by Sky Italia. It allows users to watch content from the satellite TV platform’s various networks—including Sky Sport channels—on their smartphones, tablets, and computers. Channel listings on the Sky Go service depends on the users’ subscription plans. Sky Go streams content in standard definition and has been included in Sky TV packages at no cost, in the past.

In addition to acting as a TV Everywhere service on which content from multiple sources are streamed live, Sky Go can also be used as a Catch-Up service with a comprehensive catalog of videos available on demand. Content released on Sky Go includes football and other sports, blockbuster movies, TV series, documentaries, children’s shows and more. Videos that have their original audio in languages other than Italian may come with subtitles.

A more robust version of the service, known as Sky Go Plus, lets users access their channels via their gaming consoles and download programs to watch later, while taking advantage of simultaneous streaming on different devices, and benefiting from other advanced functionalities.

Sky Sport is a pay-tv sports network owned by satellite TV operator Sky Italia. It was launched in 2003 and consists of multiple premium sports channels broadcasting in standard definition (576i) and high definition (1080i)—many of which have been around for many years. Sky Sport’s large family of television networks in Italy puts it in a unique position to provide subscribers with extensive coverage across various sports disciplines. Sports covered on the platform over the years has included basketball, football, motorsport, rugby, tennis, wrestling and more.

Furthermore, Sky’s rich content is available to stream live online and on demand via its official web services and cross-platform applications.

In July 2018, Sky Sport restructured its channel offerings—changing some of the channel numbers in the process. Although it largely maintained the themes of its networks, its packages, pricing, and channel distributions saw some changes. Aside from broadcasting sporting events, Sky Sport also feeds its viewers with news updates, highlights, and exclusive clips around the world of sports. In addition, it produces its own programs from its studios to complements its events coverage.

UEFA Champions LeagueSKY has acquired broadcast rights to the UEFA Champions League in Italy. The pay-TV broadcaster will distribute coverage of Europe’s largest soccer club competition on its family of premium networks. Live streams of the games may also be available on SKY’s over-the-top (OTT) platform, Sky Go, and its official apps for subscribers on Android and iOS mobile devices.
More details In addition to live telecasts and online streams, full match replays may be aired on TV and made available on demand on the broadcaster’s video streaming service. Highlights and magazine shows may be shared as well across the TV operator’s digital assets. Subscribers of Now TV, an internet TV and video-on-demand (VOD) service provider managed by SKY, are also expected to inherit all the Champions League action in Italy.

Sky Italia has renewed its Serie A TV rights deal in Italy until the end of the 2020/21 season. Sky’s broadcast rights acquisition includes Package 5, which grants them access to 114 matches or three games every weekend for 38 rounds – including Sunday evening encounters. Sky also went for Package 6, which includes a total of 152 matches, including Monday evening games.
More details In all, Sky has secured 226 games for its platform every season. Coverage will be carried out live on TV on Sky Supercalcio and Sky Calcio channels, as well as the pay-TV broadcaster’s over-the-top (OTT) service known as Sky Go. The matches will also be aired as full replays on TV on the network’s family of channels, and on demand online and via its streaming mobile app.
BundesligaSky Italia has acquired German Bundesliga rights in Italy, in a deal that will see it telecast matches on its high definition TV networks, and also its streaming services Sky Go and Sky Go Plus. Sky Italia's sport package is expected to feature over 100 Bundesliga matches, with at least 3 matches per round.
