About Polsat TV

Polsat is a free-to-air television channel from Poland, which is owned and operated by Telewizja Polsat. It was launched on December 5, 1992 and has frequently been named as the most-watched television channel in the country. During its early years, Polsat was forced to import shows via the Netherlands, but this changed in 1993, when they were given a terrestrial license to operate terrestrially.

Over the years, Polsat has been categorized as a general entertainment channel, with news broadcasts, movies, TV series, talk shows, reality shows, and sports broadcasts covering most of its airtime. While most of the channel’s content is produced within the country, there are some shows and movies that have been purchased abroad.

Speaking about sports, Polsat has covered content from disciplines such as football, volleyball, and mixed martial arts. The competitions aired on this channel have included both domestic and international tournaments.

Football tournaments covered by this channel over the years have included the Polish Cup and European Qualifiers both for the UEFA Euro and for the FIFA World Cup. The channel has placed special focus on the games where the Polish National Football Team has been involved.

The channel was initially launched as a Standard Definition network, but a High-Definition feed was added in September 2009. Users who still have no access to the HD feed may get a downscaled version of this feed to replace the old SD option in some pay-tv carriers.
