Now Sports 5 history, coverage, features
Now Sports 5 is a television channel from Hong Kong that is owned and operated by Hong Kong Telekom, a company also known by its acronym, HKT. The channel saw the light on July 18, 2007, being known during those days as an overflow channel to Now Sports 1, Now Sports 2, Now Sports 3, and Now Sports 4.
Over the years, Now Sports 5 has made a name for itself by covering many disciplines, which have included mixed martial arts, ice hockey, motorsports, surfing, baseball, basketball, American football and more. In recent years, the channel has focused its coverage on competitions that take place in the United States, making it almost exclusively an American sports channel.
Now Sports 5 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was launched on October 22, 2010 to improve the user’s experience. Subscribers may watch both feeds depending on the region of the country they live in.
