Canal+ Sport 1 Poland is a television channel from Poland, which is owned and operated by Canal+ Polska. It was launched on December 1, 1998 under the name Canal+ Blue. The channel would be renamed as Canal+ Sport 1 on March 11, 2004. Canal+ Sport 1 Poland has become one of the most relevant sports channels in the country, along with its sister channels Canal+ Sport 2, Canal+ Sport 3, and Canal+ Sport 4.
Over the years, Canal+ Sport 1 has been considered the network’s flagship sports channel, as most of the top sports events and broadcasting rights owned by the network have been aired on its signal. The channel has focused on broadcasting team sports such as football, basketball, slag, and rugby, but other sports such as tennis, golf, mixed martial arts, and equestrian competitions have also found space in the channel’s programming.
Speaking about football, Canal+ Sport 1 Poland has aired tournaments such as La Liga, the English Premier League, the German Bundesliga, the French Ligue 1, and the Polish Ekstraklasa, to name a few. International tournaments such as the UEFA Champions League and Europa League have also been covered on this network. Coverage of this competitions has been shared with its sister channels over the years.
Canal+ Sport 1 Poland was launched in Standard Definition, but an HD feed was launched in the early 2010s to increase its market share. Both feeds may still be available in some regions of the country, adding a downscaled version of the HD feed to the network’s offering.
