After their historic opening win at a Euro tournament, England will be looking to make it back to back victories as they take on Scotland on Friday, June 18th.

Preview: England vs Scotland

England come into this match having earned a well-deserved 1-0 win over Croatia. The victory was notable as it marked the first time the Three Lions had won their opening match in a Euro championship in team history. Manchester City's Raheem Sterling was the hero on the day, with his 57th minute effort being enough to dispatch the Vatreni and set Gareth Southgate's side up nicely to potentially qualify for the round of 16 if things go their way against Scotland.

Scotland, by contrast, experienced a shocking result from their opener. Steve Clarke's men were unfortunately on the wrong end of a 2-0 score-line against the Czech Republic and now will face an uphill battle to stay afloat. This is Scotland's first Euro championship since 1996, where interestingly enough, they also faced England at this juncture. To make things even more fascinating, current England boss Southgate was part of the team that won 2-0. And while one can be certain that they will give it their all, especially against a very familiar foe and at a very familiar venue, history isn't on Clarke's troops' side.

Indeed, Scotland have won just one of their last 11 clashes with England, with losses in eight of those. They've also failed to score in five of their last seven games at Euro tournaments, including their disappointing result against the Czech Republic, who outplayed them from start to finish. That being said, their sole win during this period did come at Wembley - it was in November 1999, during a Euro 2000 tournament qualifier when a single goal from Don Hutchinson was enough to fire them to victory.

Yet, given how generally off the pace Scotland looked at Hampden Park, it's hard to see anything but an uphill battle in store for Clarke's men when they arrive in London. England, for their part, are indeed in pole position to make it two wins out of two and secure a spot in the round of 16. Will they be able to achieve just that on Friday?

Team news: England vs Scotland

England: Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has made significant inroads in his recovery from an ankle injury, but it's unlikely that he'll feature at all on matchday two. The same applies to Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who is still continuing rehab from a groin injury. Meanwhile, Aston Villa star Jack Grealish missed out on training on Tuesday but could make a return to the team - albeit from the bench.

Scotland: Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney missed out on Scotland's first match, and with him still struggling with a calf issue, it'll be down to a late fitness test to see if he can feature in this game.
