2024-2027
RTL has retained UEFA Europa League rights in Germany from 2024-25 to 2026-27. The commercial network first acquired Europa League rights in 2018 and continues to broadcast matches on a free-to-air basis. Fans can watch matches on RTL’s free-to-air linear channels, Nitro and RTL, or stream games using RTL’s streaming service, RTL+.

2022-2028
UEFA Nations League matches featuring the German national football team are shown live on RTL Deutschland after a deal was struck between UEFA and the free-to-air provider until 2028.
In addition to every live Germany match, RTL Deutschland is also the home of the Nations League finals, with all matches from the quarter-finals onwards shown on the channel.

2024-2027
UEFA Conference League fans in Germany can watch live matches exclusively on RTL, which has secured the broadcast rights for UEFA’s third-tier league for the 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 seasons.
As part of this agreement, viewers in Germany can watch live UEFA Conference League fixtures on free-to-air linear channels RTL and Nitro.

2022-2028
RTL has reached an agreement with ARD and ZDF to share coverage of the German national team’s matches in the UEFA Euro 2028 qualifiers.

2025-2028

2025-2029
RTL is a co-broadcaster of the 2. Bundesliga in Germany, securing the rights to the German second division under a deal covering the 2025-26 to 2028-29 seasons. At the start of this deal, the broadcaster exclusively aired the Saturday evening (domestic time) 2. Bundesliga matches, totaling 33 games per season.

RTL history, coverage, features
RTL is a free-to-air television channel in Germany that launched in 1984. The channel was originally called RTL Plus until 1992, when it became known as RTL Television. It then became known as simply ‘RTL’ in 2004. RTL Deutschland owns the channel, and it is predominantly an entertainment TV channel. However, live sport has also been shown on the channel in the past.In terms of live football coverage, the channel has recently shown live Germany matches from the UEFA Nations League and European Championship qualifying. In terms of club football, the Europa League has been shown. Live streaming of RTL is available through RTL+, the broadcaster’s dedicated streaming platform. RTL+ can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android devices, but some content does require a subscription to watch. All programming on RTL, including live football, is in German.
